Historic 4-star seafront hotel with Marco Pierre White dining

Rooms & Amenities

The hotel has 78 en suite bedrooms, many offering views of the English Channel. All rooms include air conditioning, smart TVs, safes, and bathrooms with both rainforest and traditional showers. Anti-mist mirrors and electric toothbrush chargers are standard in every bathroom.

Dining

On-site dining operates under Marco Pierre White's Steakhouse, Bar & Grill Restaurant. The Coral Bar & Lounge serves drinks with sea views, and there is also a coffee house on site. Outdoor dining domes provide private panoramic views of the seafront.

Historic Setting & Design

Built in 1864, the hotel is a historic building that has undergone a major refurbishment of all bedrooms and bathrooms. The renovation evokes the Victorian era of the original building while adding modern facilities. The building sits on top of the Leas Cliff, overlooking the Clifton Gardens.

Family & Accessibility

The hotel offers family rooms and a kid-friendly buffet at breakfast, which includes gluten-free options. Accessible facilities are available for guests with mobility issues. The property is family-friendly and has a lift, though it is noted to be small.

Location & Entertainment

Folkestone is home to Europe's largest urban art exhibition, the Creative Quarter, and the Harbour Arm, all within walking distance. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the Eurotunnel and 20 minutes from the Dover Ferry Port. Live music and themed dinner nights are held on-site.

Highlights

Dining: Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & outdoor dining domes

Location: On the Leas Cliff, 10 min from Eurotunnel

History: Built in 1864 with Victorian-era refurbishment

Entertainment: Live music, themed dinner nights, Harbour Arm nearby

Rooms: 78 bedrooms, many with English Channel views

Accessibility: Family rooms, kid-friendly buffet, gluten-free options

“The hotel strikes a nice balance, with modernized rooms that still nod to the building's original Victorian grandeur. I particularly appreciate its location along The Leas, making it easy to enjoy both the town and the sea views. With dining options including a Marco Pierre White restaurant, plus renovations that seem to enhance rather than disrupt, it seems a solid choice for a Folkestone getaway.”
